a pregnant pause

Things are looking up.

1. I found out I was pregnant on the morning of my 26th birthday. I love my 26th birthday.

2. I don't love nausea. It's a wretched, wretched thing. Seriously. So not a fan.

3. I am a fan of sleep, however. I go to bed around 9 p.m. these days (yes, former roomies — 9 p.m!), and I adore every minute of that glorious REM cycle.

4. I know what you're thinking: "If you love sleep so much, why don't you marry it?"

5. Oh. You weren't thinking that because you're not in second grade? Oops-a-daisy.

6. I'm going to have my child say, "Oops-a-daisy." Adorable, I tell you.

7. Remember how I'm going to have a child? Cra-zy!

8. You know what else is Cra-zy? Cra-vings! I've had two. Stove Top Stuffing and a Quarter Pounder with Cheese from McDonald's. I'm embarrassed to report that the Quarter Pounder with Cheese was both breathtaking and beautiful.

9. Speaking of bellies (did you make the leap?), I want one. Like, now. I realize I may regret this statement later, but for now I'm tired of looking like I ate five too many Quarter Pounders with Cheese.

10. As for the belly, I think we have a boy on our hands. Just a hunch. Although the Chinese prediction calendar thingie says it's going to be a girl. Which, you know, would be equally wonderful.

11. Did I say wonderful? Adam's going to be a wonderful dad. Really. Top notch.

12. And on top of it all, I'm amazed at how in love I am with this little soul — currently the size of a plum. The wee little thing has plum tuckered me out, and I know it will for the rest of my life. But I am absolutely, totally, completely smitten. And in six months, I'm going to love his little birthday, too. (I know, China — or her!)

P.S. Thanks for all the comment love and excitement on my last post. I feel very loved!

oh, I hear you on the nausea thing, all of mine were puke fests. Not fun!

My record is 15 times in a 24 hour period. TMI? possibly, but I'm proud of my accomplishment, I worked very hard for it. (of course at the time, it served only as a reason to never get pregnant again)

Love your pregnant guts :)

Can't wait to see if you are right or if the Chinese calendar is right!

And also, hopefully your nausea will be gone by then.

Be warned, those Chinese people sure are smart! Now if only they had the perfect remedy for the nausea...

Bri, when do you find out???!!! Girls are fun because of the adorable clothes you get to buy. You would think I would start to get sick of it, but no, every day I get excited to dress her. Who knew I cared about fashion at all :)

Sorry about feeling sick and tired. And I know exactly what you mean about wanting a belly. I felt the same way!!! I just felt fat or "thick" as my Mom liked to say for about 5 1/2 months. I wanted a cute little basketball. But I'm sure you'll show earlier, cause you're a skinny little thing.

holy cow! SO exciting! This baby is going to be a beauty I tell ya. Sorry about the nausea. Worst part of it all. Hang in there and hopefully it will subside in a few weeks.

Tee hee. You are SUCH a cute prego lady!! Keep enjoying every moment!!

And, hey, I singlehandedly sustained the Filet-O-Fish industry during my pregnancies. Really, when else will you be able to do that kind of thing??

Oh, and FYI, the Chinese only got half of my kids right. Personally, I think they're shooting in the dark like the rest of us.

I just wish I could hug you! I am sooo super excited. Isn't it funny how the baby bump just doesn't seem to come fast enough?! But it will soon and everyone in the grocery store will want to touch it. Oh how fun. Enjoy every minute! Keep updating-please!

I completely get the McDonald's cravings. On my 1st pregnancy all I wanted was a McD's cheeseburger, daily! Never had that craving again with the additional 3 pregnancies. FYI, my first was a boy, so maybe the cheeseburgers do mean something.

i totally agree . . . having a PREGO BELLY is fabulous! I finally look pregnant and not like I had a few too many cheeseburgers myself.

You will get divorced from sleep as soon as this little one arrives! :)

LOVED this sentimental, cheesy (burger) post.
It warmed my heart and made me happy about all of the wonderful things you and Adam have to look forward to, together. I'm glad you are starting to feel a little better. It's so worth it but so miserable when you are going through it!

Lots of love,

one excited gma

I'm so excited to hear your good news. I totally craved bologna with this last pregnancy. How gross is that?

Katie said...

Yeah! I assume with the six months that means you are due in April. I am due April 9th and my hunch is a boy too. Congrats! I have the belly already, and nausea is the worst! I am so excited for you!!

Congrats! How dang exciting. You're just darling.

And I have to say, the one thing I craved when pregnant was McDonalds pickles. There's just something about those little hydrated onions too... it makes the preggers happy.

Merry Christmas! Oh, and congrats again (just because I can!)
